German automaker Volkswagen is on pace is on pace to return to pre-scandal numbers as its U.S. sales continue to trend up.
Reports indicate the automaker’s year to date sales were up 6 percent through July, despite a 1.6 decrease in the industry as a whole. With about 215,800 vehicles sold, Volkswagen is on sale to top its 366,970 in sales from 2014. 2015 saw a significant drop in the wake of the diesel emissions scandal and the automaker has been driven to get back to those numbers.

Much of the increase has been driven by the Atlas crossover, which has seen a 31 percent increase in sales, and the redesigned Jetta, which has seen a 43 percent increase. It was the sixth consecutive month where crossover vehicles contributed to the majority of Volkswagen sales.
